Wednesday's Wings

Have you ever had a time when you aren't creative? It has happened to me over the last few months. I couldn't even find time or energy to blog. I am out of school for the summer and am trying to do something good for myself so I have been swimming every morning. In the process I have seen some beautiful birds on the lake. I decided one way to get back started with my blog was to do a "Wednesday's Wings" post each week to show you some of the wonderful birds that live on my lake. I'm not a real bird watcher so I don't know all of their names, but I do like to look at birds. So if I get the names wrong feel free to correct me. This is a great blue heron. He lives close by and is always waiting for the fishermen to offer him a snack of fresh caught fish. He is not afraid to walk right up to them on the bank and wait patiently for a handout. He and other herons are often found near the shallow waters at the edge of lakes and beaches. He has the distinction of being the largest wading bird in Florida standing over four feet in height with a seventy inch wing span. Hopefully, watching the birds will put me in the mood to paint them.
